Privacy Policy
This page explains what citykits.com does and doesn't do with information about you. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past, so it's in plain English on purpose.
The Short Version
This website is a brochure, not a data operation. It has no user accounts, no comment system, no ad trackers of our own and no database quietly filling up with visitor profiles. The contact form on this site doesn't upload anything to us; it opens a message in your own email app, and nothing leaves your device until you choose to hit send. A few third-party services help this site work, and we name every one of them below.
Information We Receive
Email You Send Us
When you write to [email protected], whether directly or through the prefilled message our contact form creates, we receive whatever you include: typically your name, email address, your city or county and your message. We use it to reply and to understand which communities want a portal. We keep correspondence as ordinary business records and we don't sell it, rent it or add you to marketing lists you didn't ask for.
Standard Server Logs
Like nearly every website, the server that delivers these pages may record routine technical logs, such as the IP address a request came from, the pages requested, the time and the browser type. We use logs, when we look at them at all, for security and troubleshooting, and we don't combine them with other data to identify visitors.
Accessibility Settings Stored on Your Device
If you adjust the accessibility toolbar (text size, high contrast, dyslexia friendly font, reduced motion, link highlighting or the reading guide), those preferences are saved in your browser's local storage under a key named ck-a11y. That data never leaves your device and we never see it. Clearing your browser data removes it.
What We Don't Do
- We don't set our own tracking cookies on this site.
- We don't run third-party advertising or ad-tech pixels here.
- We don't sell or share personal information for anyone's marketing.
- We don't profile visitors or buy data about them from brokers.
Third-Party Services on This Site
Three outside services appear on citykits.com. Each has its own privacy policy that governs what it does.
Google Fonts
Our typefaces load from Google's font servers. When your browser fetches a font file, Google receives the technical details of that request, including your IP address. Google's privacy policy applies to that exchange.
Google Translate
The Translate button in our header loads Google's translation widget only after you click it. Once activated, Google Translate may set its own cookies and process the text of the page you're translating. If you never open the translate menu, the widget never loads.
Unsplash
Some photographs on this site load from Unsplash's image servers. Your browser requests those images directly, which means Unsplash receives standard request data such as your IP address.
Your Choices and Rights
You have more control here than on most sites, because so little happens in the first place.
- Skip the form entirely and email us from any address you like.
- Ask us to delete past correspondence by writing to [email protected], and we will, unless a legal obligation requires keeping it.
- Clear your browser's local storage to remove saved accessibility settings.
- Decline to use the translate feature if you'd rather not load Google's widget.
Depending on where you live, including Colorado, California and the European Union, you may have legal rights to access, correct or delete personal information a business holds about you. Given how little this site collects, the fastest path is simply to email us and tell us what you need. We respond to every verified request.
Children
This site is written for adults making decisions about local media and business. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Data Security and Retention
Email correspondence lives in our business email account, protected by that provider's security controls and our own access practices. We keep messages only as long as they're useful for the purpose you sent them, then delete them in the normal course of business.
Changes to This Policy
If this site ever starts doing more, such as adding accounts or analytics, this policy will change before that happens, and the effective date at the top will move with it. A policy that quietly lags behind the product is a broken promise, and we don't intend to make one.
